Control4 vs Crestron vs Savant: Which Smart Home Platform is Right for Your Denver Home?

March 22, 202611 min read

There are three serious whole-home automation platforms in the U.S. residential market: Control4, Crestron, and Savant. We install all three, and the right answer almost always depends on the home — not the brand.

Control4

The most popular choice for homes in the $1M–$5M range. Strong third-party device support, mature dealer network, and a great mobile app. Typical Denver project: $15K–$60K including programming.

Crestron

The reference standard for the high end. Bulletproof reliability, infinite customization, and the best touch panels in the industry — but every project requires a dedicated programmer. Best for $5M+ Cherry Hills, Castle Pines, or Boulder estates.

Savant

Beautiful UI, deep Apple ecosystem integration, and excellent for music-forward homes. Strong choice for design-conscious clients in Cherry Creek and LoDo lofts.

Quick decision framework

  • Most Denver custom homes: Control4
  • Estate-level, max customization: Crestron
  • Apple-first households, audio-centric: Savant
  • Single-room or budget under $10K: skip these — use Sonos + Lutron

The thing nobody tells you

Your platform matters less than your dealer. A great Control4 install will outperform a mediocre Crestron install every time. Ask who is programming the system, how support works after the punch list, and how long they've been a dealer.
